Clearing the air on retirement living

The freedom to do what you want
Spring is here. People have packed away their snow shovels, made way for garden gloves and trowels, and are excitedly clearing out the debris from the yard, dusting out the house and planting the gardens. Although we all enjoy the prospect of warmer weather, spring time is a lot of work.

Many older adults simply want to enjoy their retirement. After working for a lifetime, it’s time to reap the rewards and relax. Retirement living offers you the freedom to focus your time and energy on the things that truly matter to you, instead of the chores of daily, or seasonal, life.

There are a lot of misconceptions about retirement residences. Part of the confusion stems from the fact that many people use the words “retirement residence” and “nursing home” interchangeably. This couldn’t be further from the truth. A “nursing home” is another way to describe long term care. Here, residents require help with daily activities because their health no longer allows them to live independently.
“Retirement living offers you the freedom to focus your time and energy on the things that truly matter to you, instead of the chores of daily, or seasonal, life.”
Retirement residences, on the other hand, are vibrant communities where neighbours are like-minded and active seniors. They are hubs of activity with daily events that residents can choose to take part in, such as games like bowling or darts, social events like cocktail mixers or pub nights, exercise classes, excursions, lecture series, cooking classes, volunteer opportunities, and lots more. They also offer a range of supportive care options that can adapt to a resident’s, or their spouse’s, changing needs over time to give them added peace of mind.

But don’t take our word for it. Our doors are open and we would be honoured if you came to see our residences for yourselves. Meet our amazing residents and hear what they have to say. Learn how they made the adjustment from living on their own to joining a vibrant community. We would love to meet you and help advise on how you can fulfill your desires in your retirement, whether you’re actively looking for a change or just have questions.
